Obviously the year is almost over but it is never too late to discuss and put the Pantone Color of the year to good use. The 2017 Pantone Color of the year is known as "Greenery". It was described as a "yellow- greenish" color that was perfect for the first days of Spring, but who says that it can't be brought into the Fall?
As we are starting to approach the cool September nights, we creatures of habit start to spin our season color wheel. We switch from light blues and pinks to dark maroon's and olive green colors. Fall is one of the most beautiful seasons and by far my favorite. Besides the over-sized sweaters and gorgeous falling leaves, Autumn is an amazing season in the fashion industry.
I would say that about 80% of my Autumn wardrobe is Olive green. When I think G
reenery, I think foliage. According to the Pantone Website, the author states, "Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate". This color is perfect to start introducing the Fall cooler weather because it represents the "great outdoors". When I see this color all I think of is the beauty of falling leaves and how much this color is going to be utilized.
Like the picture to the right, this color can be worn and displayed in so many different ways. The best part is how broad the color name is. "Greenery" obviously defines one specific color but it is the perfect color to utilize all of its different shades. This color will be foolproof for Fall.
"Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront - it is an omnipresent hue around the world.A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality." - Pantone
Greenery is a neutral color that adds a pop of color to your wardrobe during the colder weather. When all you wear is black jeans, leggings, or even sweatpants, green is a beautiful neutral color that breaks up your outfit. Even though 2017 is coming to an end, we as a society can STILL get full use out of this gorgeous color. Of course, the 2018 color of the year will be announced in upcoming months but we have four more months to experiment Greenery!!
On a separate note: Pantone has even gone the extra step to create the Pantone Fashion Color Report Fall 2017. The color pallet that was created for Fall was described as "Bookended by a dynamic Grenadine red and a tawny Autumn Maple, the color palette for Fall 2017 leans more to warmth, “ says Eiseman. “While comforting, enveloping colors and ease are crucial to the seasonal feeling, standout shades include a pale pink Ballet Slipper, a refreshing Golden Lime, and a bright Marina blue. These hues add a striking touch when paired with the classic autumnal shades of Navy Peony, Neutral Gray, Butterrum and Tawny Port". Of course, a green color is being carried into the Fall and I am excited to see all of these pretty colors being displayed. The green color that is being applied consists of earthy tones that are great perfect!
Tell me your thoughts?! Contact me and tell me what you think about "Greenery" being the 2017 Pantone color of the year. Even better, SHOW ME! Send me pictures of your wardrobe demonstrating Greenery. I know how I will wear the color but I want to see what my readers have in mind for Autumn clothing! Let me know!
Sincerely Yours, Ciel.
