Wear Self-Confidence: How I Feel in My Favorite Outfit.

Someone once said, “Self-confidence is the best outfit. Rock it and own it”. This was not always true in middle school. I hated going to class because I always got picked on with what I wore. No one liked the dorky looking girl. I walked to class in a pink t-shirt that was washed so many times you could barely see the remaining ugly orange flowers peeling off of it. I matched this with unfitted, and unflattering, blue jeans. I tripped over my feet with the same pair of low-top white converse sneakers everyday even though the sole was practically falling off. Clearly, my outfit and my self-confidence was lacking a lot. As I got older, I learned to be confident in my outfit choices and wear what I want. When I adopted this philosophy, I started feeling much more confident and excited about different styles to experiment with. Needless to say, I am not considered to be that dorky girl anymore.

Many people do not realize the difference between fashion and style. Of course, fashion takes the hot current trends into consideration; however, style becomes something so much more personal. Style can define my mood, or it can define ME. It oozes confidence and describes who I am. Style is a form of self-expression and how I want to present myself. I was able to form a style based on mainstream fashion that today has evolved into something inspirational.

Having an outfit that can empower me is always essential. My style can jump from comfortable casual to business casual, it can ultimately be very flexible. However, sometimes styles can change based on different moods. One day I could wear a bright pink maxi dress with flowers fluttering across it because I feel happy. The next day I could be so tired, I might just wear my favorite oversized black paramore concert sweatshirt with black leggings and low-top converse sneakers. Creating an outfit truly depends on my mood and can make my more confident.

One of my favorite outfits of all time was a Summer time business casual ensemble. This outfit was simple, trendy, and perfect. The high-neck sleeveless ribbed top consisted of a color that reminded me of a Summer plum. When I walked, the warm wind danced through the giant holes of my light wash, cropped blue jeans. My lightweight houndstooth boyfriend blazer cloaked the plum top to give it a more professional look. The cold metal of the simple rose gold metallic flower necklace gave my skin goosebumps, but still sparked a sharp light when it faced the sun. The outfit gained movement with black strap heel sandals that tied in the front, and always managed to perfectly tickle my ankle. It was completed with a Kate Spade black tote purse that was just new enough to still smell the leather as the wind slid across the soft material. This outfit made me feel amazing.

Clothing is powerful, but more importantly style defines who I am. Feeling confident in an outfit can truly guide me towards success. This ensemble definitely describes my style because I felt fashionable and comfortable. Style and fashion definitely come together and can create something that can make me feel great. Fashion has always been something that I have been obsessed with ever since I was little. Since then I have grown from it and because of that, I feel more confident. It encourages me to want to dress my best and push limits. Years ago, I was dorky in a pink t-shirt, and today I am confident in out-of-the-box styles.
